The RE-greening mission

Launched by the prime minister yesterday, the "Green Building Mission" introduces six criteria to be applied to existing developments (through renovations, if required) and new projects.The six points are:
  • Sustainable site planning;
  • Safeguarding water and water efficiency;
  • Energy efficiency and renewable energy;
  • Conservation of materials and resources;
  • Indoor environmental quality; and
  • Innovation in design.

(NST, Mar 16th, 2007)

Lot of renovations to be carried out if these projects are taken into considerations;

  • the Shah Alam's TTDI Jaya and other 'flood-prone' neighbourhoods,
  • the car wash industry and the broken pipelines,
  • the availability of natural gas at petrol stations,
  • the Bakun's, the future Klau's Dam and other 'logging-associated' projects,
  • the Puduraya and other atmospheric polluting industries,
  • the resettlement flats and other 'affordable-yet-sardined' housing projects.

May God put us on the right track.
